Version of this port present on the latest quarterly branch. Since I have Plex Pass, I decided to enable transcoding, the GPU shows up in the Plex. I usually just use CPU for transcoding, it works fine up to 4K HDR. I run my Plex server on a 6-Core 12th Gen Intel Core i5-12400 with Linux Debian. I noticed that with larger BluRay movies it struggles with playback (manages to play a second, stops to load for a couple of seconds, plays another second and etc.) even though the CPU isn't being utilized more than 10% (checked with `htop` and Grafana), that seemed weird since I had the Transcoder quality set to "Make my CPU hurt" and Maximum simultaneous video transcode to "Unlimited". plexmediaserver Plex Media Server component 1. I finally enabled hardware transcoding in Plex, now all the media that is being converted is capped at 720p. , before that I had a similar setup on a spare Raspberry PI 4. ![]() Once installed, Plex will run in the background, letting you manage. All you have to do is install Plex Media Server on the device where the file is located. I have a home server I made from an old laptop with 6GB RAM and an Intel i7-3610QM CPU where I have Plex installed alongside other services like Grafana and etc. Plex Media Server is a comprehensive multimedia player whose main appeal is that with it you can watch movies and series remotely from any device. ![]()
